Shadyside
Shadyside is a residential neighborhood in the heart of Pittsburgh?s East End. The area has a similar feel to Washington DC?s Georgetown area except on a smaller scale. Home to stately million dollar mansions as well as more modern apartment and condominium buildings, this neighborhood is popular with students, those who work for one of Oakland?s nearby universities or hospitals, and downtown professionals who like the easy East Busway commute.
In addition to its beautiful homes and shaded streets, Shadyside has a thriving and walkable commercial corridor. Walnut Street is home to many restaurants and shops including Pittsburgh grown businesses as well as national chains like Ann Taylor and Banana Republic. On Ellsworth Avenue, you won?t find any chains, but rather an eclectic mix of art galleries, clothing shops, and neighborhood eateries.
