Not Gaga for Gaga?
Lady Gaga is headed to the Burgh this weekend. My son, for one, would love to be in attendance but that’s just not happening. For those of you out there who are not so gaga for Lady Gaga or for those who are gaga but couldn’t score tickets, what other musical entertainment is out there?
Here’s my family fun suggestion for Pittsburgh. The 2010 Allegheny County Musical Festival takes place on September 5 at Hartwood Acres. Rusted Root is headlining at 7:30 with warm-up bands beginning at 5:15. The Musical Festival Fund is asking for a donation of $20 per car. The Fund has been used in the past to support a variety of great causes, including a week of summer camp for at-risk youth.
For those of you unfamiliar with the band, Rusted Root is a Pittsburgh based band formed in the early 90s. Their music has an eclectic world rock flair. Stereo Rodeo, their first studio album in 7 years, was released in May of 2009 and features a mix of styles, including the energetic dance song “Dance in the Middle.”
Remember Monday’s a holiday, so pack up the blanket and the kids, and head over to Hartwood Acres for a great night of music supporting a great cause!
